The city watch[1] or city guard[2] is the organization charged with defending and maintaining order in the city of Meereen.

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

During the siege of Meereen, Oznak zo Pahl is slain outside the city by Strong Belwas.[2] Oznak's father, the commander of the city guard, dies defending the gates.[1]

A Dance with Dragons

Daenerys Targaryen, now Queen of Meereen, disbands the city watch and replaces them with the Brazen Beasts, who are made up of freedmen and shavepates.[3]
