Ser Criston Cole, better known as Ser Criston the Kingmaker, was the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and remebered by history as one of the instigators of the Dance of the Dragons.

History

Viserys I raised his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen as his heir after unsuccessfully trying to have sons. He remarried and quickly, a new male heir was produced. After the death of Viserys, it was widely expected that Rhaenyra would claim the throne, however Lord Commander Criston placed her half-brother Aegon II on the Iron Throne sparking the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. He was named Kingmaker. His motives are unknown to history, though some claim that he was ambitious, others say he was defending Andal tradition and others claim that Aegon was more easily manipulated by Ser Criston.[1]
