Daena Targaryen
Alias Daena the Defiant
Allegiance House Targaryen
Culture Valyria
Spouse Baelor I

Daena Targaryen also known as Daena the Defiant was the daughter of King Aegon III Dragonbane. She was the wife of Baelor I, the lover of Aegon IV and mother to Daemon Blackfyre.

History

According to non-canon sources, she became known as Daena the Defiant when she became pregnant but refused to name the father. She named her son Daemon and raised him alone. The father was only revealed when Aegon IV gave Daemon the ancestral Targaryen sword Blackfyre, acknowledging him as one of his bastards.[1]

Appearance

She had long, silver-gold, curly hair and a heart-shaped face. Her eyes were purple. She was athletic. She always wore black as a child, in emulation of her father. This changed however when her husband failed his matrimonal duties and failed to consummate the marriage. Thereafter she wore only white until she had been properly wedded.

Throughout all her phases she wore a three-headed dragon pendant, either worn on a golden chain or a leather thong. She inherited it from her father.[2]
