History

Desmond was one of three known Grand Maesters who served during the rule of Maegor the Cruel. After Queen Alys Harroway went into premature labor in 44 AC,[1], Desmond assisted in the delivery. When the queen gave birth to a severely-deformed stillborn child, Maegor, in his fury, blamed everyone who had assisted in the delivery, and later Queen Alys herself for her supposed infidelity. He eventually ordered the executions of Alys, her lord father Lucas, her septas and midwives, and Desmond.[2][3]

Desmond was one of three Grand Maesters that were executed during Maegor's reign.[4]
