The Dothraki Sea is a region on the continent of Essos, located east of the Free Cities. Home to the nomadic Dothraki people.

Geography

Located east of the Free Cities of Pentos and Qohor, west of the Red Waste and north of Lhazar and Slaver's Bay, the Dothraki Sea is so immense it can support more than two dozen khalasars, each riding its own circuits and taking what is needed from the land as they go. [1] Some rivers run through the lands, though they are often shallow and shift with the seasons, overall sand is more prevalent than water. A single massive mountain, located in the region, the Mother of Mountains, which rise at the heart of the Dothraki sea, at the city of Vaes Dothrak.[1]

Overview

The Dothraki Sea, is a vast, landscape of steppes and plains. The plains are largely empty, populated only by the Dothraki, a nomadic and equestrian culture. Its only city, an ancient ruin called Vaes Dothrak, lies at the heart of the Dothraki sea and is home to the Dothraki people. Populated with packs of wild dogs, herds of free-ranging horses, rare hrakkar and grasses that often grow thick and taller than a man’s head and look like a sea from afar as it rolls like waves in the breeze. [2][1] Over a hundred types of grass grows on the plains, among them hranna.
