The fall of Mistwood occurs amidst the Landing of the Golden Company.

Prelude

In his campaign to place Aegon Targaryen on the Iron Throne, Jon Connington joins the sellsword Golden Company in invading the stormlands. Their Volantene fleet is scattered by a storm after Lys, and only six of the sellswords' ten ships arrive at the rendezvous near the rainwood in Cape Wrath, land formerly owned by House Connington. The gathered force is not quite half the Golden Company's full strength of ten thousand.[2]

Battle

During her journey to meet Aegon, Princess Arianne Martell learns that Mistwood has fallen to the Golden Company.[1] Half a mile from Mistwood, her party is ambushed by three Company men who escort them to the castle. There she meets with Young John Mudd and Chains who held the castle for the Company. She later have supper in the Tower of Owls with them and the dowager Lady Mary Mertyns and her maester who have been made prisoners in their own castle. Lady Mary explains to Arianne that the castle fell easily as the castle was lightly garrisoned since her sons and grandsons took most men to war in support of King Renly Baratheon. Arianne and her companions leave for Griffin's Roost in the morning.[3]
