A gallant and powerful knight,[3] Forrest had once been a suitor to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, but got dubbed "Fool Frey" for asking openly for her hand even though he was a younger son.[4] He later married Lady Sabitha Vypren.[3]

Lord Forrest sided with the blacks during the Dance of the Dragons. He brought two hundred knights and six hundred infantry when he joined Lord Roderick Dustin and Robb Rivers by the Gods Eye. Forrest died fighting the greens' army from the westerlands in the Battle by the Lakeshore.[1] His son succeeded him as Lord of the Crossing.[2]
