Franklyn Farman was the first-born son and heir of Lord Marq Farman of Fair Isle. He became the head of House Farman and Lord of Fair Isle during the reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.

Character

Franklyn was described by his maester Smike as not lacking for courage, but he did lack for sense.[1]

History

Ser Franklyn's grandfather and uncle perished during the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye while fighting for Prince Aegon the Uncrowned, which made his father Marq the new Lord of Fair Isle. Franklyn returned their bodies to Fair Isle to be buried.[1]

Tensions were high between Franklyn and his father's guest, Princess Rhaena Targaryen. Franklyn felt the princess brought much grief to House Farman, who had bled for her late husband, but she showed little gratitude. During the princess's stay at Faircastle, she befriended his sister Elissa and married Franklyn's younger brother, Androw. Lord Marq died in 50 AC, choking on a fish bone at his own table. The new lord Franklyn told Princess Rhaena she was no longer welcome and to leave the island. She could take her husband and her household, but not his sister, who Franklyn would arrange a marriage for. Rhaena defiantly took Elissa with her anyway. When Franklyn tried to stop them at the docks, he was thrown into a ship's hold full of freshly caught cod until Rhaena and her entourage sailed away.[1]

Princess Rhaena returned to Fair Isle at the end of 54 AC flying her dragon Dreamfyre in search of her missing daughter Aerea. Lord Franklyn received her coldly. As she was leaving she told him of how Balerion had enjoyed eating his brother, Androw, after he had killed himself by jumping from a window at Dragonstone.[2]
