The Grey Waste is a vast desert in the Further East of Essos.[1]
Geography
The Grey Waste is a freezing desert in far eastern Essos.[2] It is located south of Mossovy, between the Cannibal Sands. Southwest of the area is the city of K'Dath.[3]
History
Raiders out of the Grey Waste frequently attack the Five Forts, which defend Yi Ti from the desert.[2]
Upon revealing to Alyssa Velaryon and Rogar Baratheon that she had wed her brother, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, in 49 AC, Alysanne Targaryen remarked that even if she was sent to the ends of the earth and forced to marry "the King of Mossovy or the Lord of the Grey Waste", she would still find her way back to her new husband.[4]
