Hallis is named captain of the guards at Winterfell upon the departure of Jory Cassel.[2] He was a part of Robb Stark's force when he went south. When Greatjon Umber threatened to take his men home and drew his sword, Hallis moved to intercept him but was knocked down by the much larger man.[3] He commanded Lady Catelyn Stark's guard during the Battle of the Whispering Wood.[4]
A Clash of Kings
