TV series Game of Thrones: Season 8

Harry Strickland, also known as Homeless Harry Strickland, is a captain-general of the Golden Company and an exiled knight from House Strickland.[2] In the television adaptation Game of Thrones, he is portrayed by Marc Rissmann.

Appearance and Character

Harry is portly, with a big round head, mild grey eyes, and thinning grey hair that he brushes sideways to cover up a bald spot. He likes elephants.[2]

Harry likes to boast "gold for four generations". He complains often of blisters on his feet from long marches, and is not the bravest of men.[2]

History

Harry's great-grandsire lost his lands when he rose in the First Blackfyre Rebellion with Daemon I Blackfyre. Harry was born in exile and raised with the Golden Company, as was his father and his grandfather. After the death of the previous commander, Ser Myles Toyne, Harry was made the new captain-general, and Gorys Edoryen replaced Harry as paymaster.[2] Ser Rolly Duckfield was once Harry's squire,[1] and his current squire is Watkyn.[2]

Recent Events

A Dance with Dragons

Harry brings the Golden Company to three miles south of Volon Therys, where they are met by Jon Connington and Aegon Targaryen.[2]

During the landing of the Golden Company in the stormlands, Harry is weary and reluctant to fight. Jon constantly thinks of him as a coward.[4]

Quotes by Harry

You will pardon me if I do not rise. Our march was wearisome, and my toes are prone to blisters. It is a curse.[2]

—Harry to Jon Connington

Quotes about Harry

Homeless Harry looked little like a warrior.[2]

—thoughts of Jon Connington

Harry Strickland had always been a genial man, better at hammering out contracts than at hammering on foes. He had a nose for gold, but whether he had the belly for battle was another question.[2]

—thoughts of Jon Connington

Harry's an old maid, isn't he?[4]
