Queen Helaena Targaryen was the sister-wife to Aegon II, daughter of King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower. She had three children with her husband, the twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera and Maelor. Helaena was a dragonrider, her dragon was Dreamfyre. She was loved by the smallfolk.[1]

History

When Blood and Cheese were hired to murder one of her sons during the Dance of the Dragons, they at first forced her to choose. She offered herself instead but they refused and stated if she didn't decide quick Blood would rape her daughter, she reluctantly named her youngest, Maelor, but the assassins killed Jaehaerys instead. She became so depressed at the death of her son (and the knowledge that Maelor knew she had chosen him to die), she locked herself away and withdrew from the war and the world, becoming unreliable as a dragonrider for the green cause. She was taken captive during the Fall of King's Landing.[1]

In 130 AC, Helaena, mad with grief, jumped from Maegor's Holdfast and died on the spikes below. She was 21 when she died.[1] Rumors that she was murdered by Luthor Largent, at Queen Rhaenyra's behest, spread through King's Landing.[1]
