A Storm of Swords

During the assault on the Wall by the wildlings, Hobb kept the defenders fed. Hobb was among those left behind by Bowen Marsh when he set off after the wildling raiders. Hobb was among the candidates at the choosing of the new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.[2]

A Dance with Dragons

Hobb gathers with two score other Watchmen near the gate of Castle Black after word spreads that the heads of three rangers have been found impaled on spikes on the other side of the Wall. Lord Commander Jon Snow informs the that the news is true and that Jack Bulwer, Hairy Hal, and Garth Greyfeather had all been slain by the Weeper. A friend of Garth's, Alf of Runnymudd, breaks down at the news, and Hobb is ordered by Jon to get Alf to bed and give him mulled wine.[3]
