House Cerwyn of Cerwyn is from the North. They are one of closest bannermen to the Starks, Castle Cerwyn being just a two days ride from Winterfell.

Their blazon is a black battle-axe on silver.[1] Their words do not appear in the books, but the author has suggested in noncanon correspondence with fans «Honed and Ready»

  • The Cerwyn blazon is seen by Bran at Winterfell when Robb calls his banners.
  • Lord Medger brought his daughter Donella with him at Robb's campaign at the South, to cook for him and sit at his left hand. However, Theon suspected that he intended to put the girl on Robb's bed.
  • Lord Umber threatened to return home with his levies if he was placed behind the Hornwoods or the Cerwyns in the order of march, suggesting that the three houses have comparable strength.
  • Tyrion sees the Cerwyn's battleaxe among the northern forces at the Green Fork.
  • Lord Cerwyn is made prisoner at the Battle of the Green Fork.
  • Cley Cerwyn, came to Winterfell with two doxen lances for the harvest party.
  • Cley Cerwyn dances with Beth Cassel during the harvest feast.
  • Tyrion offers to exchange Lord Cerwyn and Ser Donnel Locke for Tion Frey, assuring that a Lannister is worth two northmen.
  • Arya sees Lord Cerwyn while prisoner at Harrenhal, abed in a tower cell and recovering from a wound.

  • Cley Cerwyn came to the Winterfell walls with a peace banner, to announce to Theon that Ser Rodrik wished to parley with him.
  • Cley Cerwyn is slain by Bolton men at the battle in front of Winterfell, and is presented to Theon with an arrow in his eye.
  • Roose Bolton left six hundred men to protect the ford, many of them Cerwyn men under the command of Ser Kyle Condon, who was Lord Cerwyn's right hand. It is unknown what those men did after the Red Wedding.
