- Criston Cole was Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under Viserys I. When Viserys died, he chose Aegon II over Aegon's sister Rhaenyra as Viserys's successor. This sparked the conflict that would be known as the Dance of the Dragons. He would be known to history as 'Criston Kingmaker'.
