House Penrose of Parchments is one of the main noble houses from the Stormlands, sworn to the Baratheons of Storm's End.

Their blazon is tenée, two quills crossed argent.[1][2] According to semi-canon sources, their words are "Set Down Our Deeds".[3]

The known Penroses during the timespan of the events described on A Song of Ice and Fire are:

  • Lord Penrose, Lord of Parchments. An old man, sickly and failing.

  • Although he had raised banners for King Renly I, Lord Penrose welcomed Ser Davos Seaworth when he came as messenger from his liege lord, Stannis I, and treated him well.
  • The banners of House Penrose were seen in Renly's camp beneath Bitterbridge.
  • As castellan of Storm's End, Ser Cortnay Penrose lead the defenders of the castle during the siege by Stannis, refusing to surrender neither the castle nor his ward, Edric Storm.
  • Ser Cortnay Penrose supposedly fell from the walls of Storm's End to his death. He was actually killed by a 'shadow' born from Melisandre's magic.
