House Redwyne of the Arbor is a noble house sworn to Highgarden. Their seat is the Arbor, an island south of the Whispering Sound. Redwyne is a powerful house with strong ties to the Tyrells, and provide a significant portion of the fleet of the Reach.

Their blason is a burgundy grape cluster on blue, symbolising the famed wines of the Arbor. The motto has not been mentioned in the books.

The Redwyne House at the end of the third century

  • Paxter Redwyne, Lord of the Arbor and member of the small council. During the War of the Usurper, Paxter kept his loyalty to House Targaryen, besieging Storm's End for nearly a year. After the death of King Aerys II, he surrendered his forces to troops loyal to King Robert.
    • Mina Tyrell, his wife. Sister of Lord Mace Tyrell, and daughter of the Queen of Thorns, Olenna Redwyne.
    • Horas and Hobber Redwyne, his twin sons. Nicknamed "Horror" and "Slobber", they are fat and ugly.
    • Olenna Tyrell, his mother in law, and a Redwyne by birth. She is the widow of Lord Luthor Tyrell, the late lord of Highgarden. She is called the "Queen of Thorns".

With unspecified familiar relationship with the main branch, other Redwynes include:

  • Ser Desmond Redwyne, probably from a cadet-branch of House Redwyne.
    • Denyse Hightower, his wife.
    • Denys Redwyne, his son.
  • Lady Bethany Redwyne: Lord Mathis Rowan's wife.

Ser Ryam Redwyne

Ser Ryam Redwyne is regarded as one of the greatest knights in the history of Westeros. He was member and Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. He became also Hand of the King but was not a success. His faillure as Hand is an example of how great men do not always make great Hands.
