House Tarth of Evenfall Hall is a noble house that rule the island of Tarth, a beautiful island north of the Shipbreaker Bay that controls the Straits of Tarth between the island and the continent.
Their blazon is quartered with yellow suns on rose and white crescents and azure.[1][2] Their words are not known.

The known Tarths during the timespan of the events described on A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- Lord Selwyn of Tarth: Lord of Evenfall Hall. Called the Evenstar.
- Brienne of Tarth: His daughter. An ugly, big and strong maid, often mistaken for a man. Sometimes mocked as Brienne the Beauty. Known as Brienne the Blue during her time in the Renly's Rainbow Guard.
- {Galladon}: His son. He died as a boy of drowning.
- {Arianne}: His daughter. She died as an infant.
- {Alysanne}: His daughter. She died as an infant.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch there is also:
- Ser {Endrew Tarth}, A black brother of the Night's Watch. Slain at the Battle of the Bridge of Skulls.

A Song of Ice and Fire
- Ser Endrew Tarth, stationed in the Shadow Tower, is recalled to Castle Black to train the new recruits as master-at-arms after Ser Alliser Thorne is sent away.
- The Tarths declared for Renly I during the War of the Five Kings. When Stannis sent Davos Seaworth to rally the Stormlords, they only agreed to a midnight meeting in a grove.
- Ser Endrew is described as gentler teacher than Ser Alliser, but still demanding.
- Brienne of Tarth won the meleé at Bitterbridge, defeating Ser Ronnet Connington and Ser Loras Tyrell. As a reward King Renly granted her a place in his Rainbow Guard.
- Brienne is forced to flee with Catelyn Tully when she is suspected as the killer of Renly, who died in her arms. She then goes into Catelyn's service.
- Following Catelyn's orders, Brienne escapes with Jaime and Ser Cleos Frey from Riverrun.
- Ser Endrew Tarth died fighting the Wildlings at the Battle of the Bridge of Skulls.
- Brienne is entrusted by Jaime to look for Catelyn's daughters, and gives her a Valyrian steel sword named Oathkeeper.
- While following Arya Stark's track, Brienne is captured by the Brotherhood Without Banners and sentenced to death by the revived Catelyn Tully.
