House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest is one of the two great branches of House Vance in the Riverlands, the other being House Vance of Atranta. House Smallwood is sworn to Wayfarer's Rest.[1]
Neither their arms or their motto appear on the books. According to semi-canon sources they blazon their arms as quartered, a black dragon on white, two golden eyes in a golden ring on black.[2]

Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
When the Lannisters start massing men at the Golden Tooth, Ser Edmure Tully commands Lord Piper and Lord Vance of Wayfarer's Rest to guard the pass. Ser Karyl Vance is with his father at the pass below the Golden Tooth when Ser Gregor Clegane and the Mountain's men started ravaging holdfasts in the Riverlands. He is sent with Ser Marq Piper and Ser Raymun Darry to report to the Iron Throne.
Lord Vance is slain when the Lannisters attack from the Golden Tooth. Karyl, the new Lord of Wayfarer's Rest, and Marq raid the Lannister army in the Riverlands. Lord Karyl is among the river lords at Riverrun when Robb Stark is crowned King in the North.
A Clash of Kings
At the Battle of the Fords, Lord Karyl is commanded with the defense of the fords north of Riverrun.
A Storm of Swords
Lord Vance is among the seven nobles who launch the funeral boat of Lord Hoster Tully. Ser Lymond Vikary is held captive at Wayfarer's Rest.
Tommen I signs the pardon of Lord Vance after the war. It is unknown if the reference is for the Lord of Atranta or for the Lord of Wayfarer's Rest, but afterwards both have been welcomed to the king's peace.
A Feast for Crows
Both branches of House Vance are present in the siege of Riverrun, and their lords take part in the war councils. After finishing the siege, Lord Karyl recommends to Ser Jaime Lannister he go to the Siege of Raventree, since Lord Tytos Blackwood will never surrender to Lord Jonos Bracken.
House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest at the end of the third century
