House Vance of Wayfarer's Rest is one of the two great branches of House Vance in the Riverlands, the other being House Vance of Atranta.
House Smallwood is sworn to Wayfarer's Rest.[1]
Neither their arms or their motto appear on the books. According to semi-canon sources they blazon their arms as quartered, a black dragon on white, two golden eyes in a golden ring on black.[2]

The known Vances of the Wayfarer's Rest during the timespan of the events described on A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- Lord {Vance}, Lord of Wayfarer's Rest. He was slain at the Battle of the Golden Tooth.
- Lord Karyl Vance, his son and new Lord of Wayfarer's Rest.
- Liane Vance, his eldest daughter.
- Rhialta Vance, his second daughter.
- Emphyria Vance, his third daughter.
- Lord Karyl Vance, his son and new Lord of Wayfarer's Rest.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch there are also:
- Ser Dafyn Vance. He is married to Maegelle Frey, daughter of Stevron Frey, and is father to three children.
- Marianne Vance, his daughter and eldest child.
- Walder Vance, his eldest son.
- Patrek Vance, his second son.

- When the Lannisters start massing men at the Golden Tooth, Ser Edmure Tully commands Lord Piper and Lord Vance of Wayfarer's Rest to guard the pass.
- Ser Karyl Vance was with his father at the pass below the Golden Tooth when Ser Gregor Clegane and his men started ravaging holdfasts in the Riverlands. He was sent with Ser Marq Piper and Ser Raymun Darry to report to the Iron Throne.
- Lord Vance is slain when the Lannisters attack from the Golden Tooth.
- The new Lord of Wayfarer's Rest, Karyl Vance, and Ser Marq Piper raided the Lannister army in the Riverlands.
- Lord Karyl Vance was among the riverlords who were at Riverrun when Robb Stark was crowned.
- At the Battle of the Fords, Lord Karyl was commanded with the defense of the fords north of Riverrun.
- Lord Vance was among the seven nobles who launched the funeral boat of Lord Hoster Tully.
- Tommen I signs the pardon of Lord Vance after the war. It is unknown if the reference is for the Lord of Atranta or for the Lord of Wayfarer's Rest, but afterwards we see that both of them have been welcomed to the King's peace.
- Both branches of House Vance are present in the siege of Riverrun, and their Lords take part in the war councils.
- After finishing the siege of Riverrun, Lord Karyl Vance recommends to Ser Jaime Lannister to go to Raventree Hall, since Lord Blackwood will never surrender to Lord Bracken.
