House Wylde of Rain House is a noble house from Rain House in the Stormlands. It is one of the principal houses sworn to House Baratheon.[1] According to semi-canon sources they blazon their arms with a blue-green maelstrom on gold.[2]
Contents
History
The Wylde arms were spotted by Dunk among the gathered heraldry. Ser Willem Wylde was a member of Daeron II Targaryen's Kingsguard. He fought on behalf of Prince Aerion Targaryen during the trial of seven at Ashford.[3]
During the Siege of Storm's End, Ser Gawen Wylde attempted to sneak out of the castle and surrender to the besieging army of Lord Mace Tyrell. He was captured and later died in his cell.
Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
Ser Gladden Wylde is part of the force that Lord Eddard Stark sends out to arrest Ser Gregor Clegane. However, Gladden is killed by House Lannister forces in the Battle at the Mummer's Ford.
A Dance with Dragons
Ser Ormund Wylde remains loyal to Stannis Baratheon after the Battle of the Blackwater, and joins him on his campaign in the North. Rain House is captured during the landing of the Golden Company.
House Wylde at the end of the third century
The known Wyldes during the time span described in A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- Lord Casper Wylde, Lord of the Rain House.
- Ser Ormund Wylde, his uncle.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch there are also:
- Ser {Gladden Wylde}, a knight. Slain in the Riverlands in the Battle at the Mummer's Ford.
- Ser {Gawen Wylde}, a former master-at-arms at Storm's End. Perished during the Siege of Storm's End.
- {Tyana Wylde}, the wife of Ser Aenys Frey. Died in childbed.
- Ser Jon Wylde, husband of Elyana Vypren. They have one child, Rickard Wylde.

- Jasper Wylde, known as "Ironrod", the Master of Laws during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen.[4]
- Ser Willem Wylde, a knight of the Kingsguard appointed during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen.[3]
