The Ifequevron or wood walkers are a mythical race said to have inhabited the dense forests of northern Essos. Their name in the Dothraki language means "those who walk in the woods", according to the account of the merchant-adventurer Bryan of Oldtown.
The woods walkers were a small, shy, and gentle folk said to have been extinguished by the Ibbenese, who conquered a large swath of the territory directly south to the island of Ib. Others believe they went into hiding or fled to other lands. The Dothraki still refer to the great forest along the northern coast of central Essos as the Kingdom of the Ifequevron. The Dothraki are reported to have shunned the forest out of reverence for the wood walkers or fear of their powers.
