Jaehaerys II was King of the Seven Kingdoms and the sixteenth Targaryen to sit the Iron Throne. He was the father of Aerys II and grandfather of Daenerys.
Appearance
Jaehaerys was sickly looking, pale and frail with large purple eyes and shoulder length hair. He wore Maekar's crown.[1]
History
He was an amiable, clever, and sickly man who died young.[2]
He was the second son of Aegon V. Like his brothers, he married for love, refusing an arranged marriage. He, however, commanded his son Aerys II Targaryen and daughter Rhaella to marry each other.
A woods witch brought to court by Jenny of Oldstones, prophesied that the prince that was promised would be born from their line.[3] Their first born child, Rhaegar, was born in the year 259 AC, on the very same day that the Tragedy at Summerhall took place.
Due to his delicate health, Jaehaerys was considered weak by many, but Ser Barristan, who served him, thought differently. Jaehaerys' reign only lasted three years, but he reigned well in those short years.

Quotes
"Madness and greatness were two sides of the same coin and every time a new Targaryen was born, the gods would toss the coin in the air and the world would hold its breath to see how it would land"[4]
