Lord Jason Mallister is the head of House Mallister and Lord of Seagard. He has at least one son, Patrek.

Ser Jason was defeated in a tourney at Storm's End by Prince Rhaegar Targaryen.[1] As a bannerman to House Tully, he attended the wedding of Catelyn Tully to Eddard Stark where his gifts were lavish.[2]

During Robert's Rebellion, he fought bravely at the Battle of the Trident, avenging his brother by slaying three of Prince Rhaegar's bannermen[3] and later, during Greyjoy Rebellion, by slaying Rodrik Greyjoy beneath the walls of Seagard, throwing the ironmen reavers back into the sea.[4] After the conclusion of the Greyjoy Rebellion, Robert I ordered a tourney to be held at Lannisport to celebrate his victory. There, Lord Jason was defeated by the eventual champion, Lord Jorah Mormont.[5]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Lord Jason Mallister travels to King's Landing and the Tourney of the Hand, he is accompanied by his son Patrek and a small party of knights and squires. They travel from Seagard by the way of the Kingsroad and pass Catelyn Tully and Rodrik Cassel near the Crossroads Inn, but do not recognize them.[2]

He attends the Tourney of the Hand in King's Landing.[3] Once Robb Stark made it past the Twins, Lord Jason added his strength to Robb's and took part in the Battle of the Whispering Wood.[6] The Mallister eagle was spotted during the Battle of the Camps.[7] After the victory, Lord Jason sits at Robb's war council, where he suggests fortifying the Riverlands and cutting off Tywin Lannister from supplies and fresh men.[8]

A Clash of Kings

He returned to Seagard after Robb Stark was proclaimed King in the North and the Riverlands, accompanied by his son Patrek Mallister and Theon Greyjoy. When he thinks his son is growing too close to the young ironman, he reminds Patrek whom Seagard was built to protect against.[4] As no ships from the Iron Islands awaited Theon on his arrival in Seagard, Jason Mallister believed the ravens Robb had sent from Riverrun to announce Theon's return had been lost and thus he sent his own birds.[4] At the Battle of the Fords, Lord Jason commanded the defense of four fords, including the one closest to Riverrun.[9]

A Storm of Swords

Lord Jason is one of the seven nobles who are chosen to launch the funeral boat of Lord Hoster Tully.[10] Lord Jason meets Robb Stark on his march north to the Twins, bringing with him the captain of the Myraham who brought news of Balon Greyjoy's death. Lord Jason was ordered by Robb to send two ships into the Neck, one carrying Galbart Glover, the other Maege Mormont to find Greywater Watch.[11]

A Feast for Crows

Lord Jason surrendered his castle to Black Walder Frey after Black Walder threatened to hang his son, Patrek.[12] Black Walder kept him as a prisoner inside his own castle, alongside his son.[13]
