Lark, known as the Sisterman[1] and Lark the Sisterman,[2] is a ranger of the Night's Watch.

Character and Appearance

Lark is a thin man, with sharp features and nervous eyes.[2] He is considered mean.[3]

History

Lark comes from the Three Sisters, a group of islands ruled by the Vale of Arryn. His cousin is Rolley of Sisterton.[1]

Recent Events

A Clash of Kings

Lark and Chett come upon Jon Snow as he is talking to Gilly, one of Craster's wives. Lark attempts to snatch a rabbit from Ghost, but falls on his back instead.[3] Jon later overhears him talking to Chett about Chett's unwillingness to go into the Frostfangs.[4]

A Storm of Swords

Lark becomes one of Chett's conspirators in the mutiny plot while they reside. Lark is supposed to kill Dywen and Bannen with the help of his cousins.[2] Although he wishes to have a double amount of co-conspirators, Chett refuses the suggestion. Lark and his cousins plan to make for the coast after escaping the Night's Watch, hoping to sail back to the Sisters. The night the mutiny is supposed to take place, Lark accompanies Chett and Small Paul on a hunt at the Fist of the First Men. They return empty-handed to the camp. The mutiny plot fails that night when the brothers of the Night's Watch are attacked by wights.[2]

Lark is turned into a wight himself, at some point, for he is one of the wights that come after Samwell Tarly and Gilly in the unnamed wildling village after they have escaped Craster's Keep following the death of Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. The undead Lark is attacked by ravens, allowing Sam and Gilly to be rescued by Coldhands.[5]
