Lord Leyton Hightower is head of House Hightower and is sometimes referred to as the Old Man of Oldtown. His titles include the Voice of Oldtown, Lord of the Port, Lord of the Hightower, Defender of the Citadel, and Beacon of the South.[2][1] He has been married four times; his current wife is Rhea Florent. One of Leyton's daughters, Alerie, is married to Lord Mace Tyrell of Highgarden.[1]

Lord Leyton was unhorsed at a tourney at Storm's End by Ser Barristan Selmy.[3] Lord Tywin Lannister offered Tyrion to Lord Leyton for marriage to one of his daughters, but was rejected.[4] Leyton has not descended from the Hightower in more than a decade.[5]

A Clash of Kings
Lord Leyton is listed as supporting Renly Baratheon at the beginning of the War of the Five Kings.[6]
A Feast for Crows
After the Battle of the Shield Islands, it is reported that Willas Tyrell sent messengers to Lord Leyton telling him to strengthen his defenses in Oldtown.[7]
In response to the ironborn threat, Lord Leyton remains in the Hightower with his eldest daughter, Malora, while his sons take care of House Hightower's duties.[8]
