Loren I Lannister, remembered as Loren the Last, was the King of the Rock from House Lannister at the time of Aegon's Conquest. He submitted to the rule of House Targaryen after surviving the Field of Fire, and became the first Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West.[1]

History

King of the Rock

After Aegon I Targaryen's landing, he set about conquering the Seven Kingdoms. King Mern IX Gardener, the King of the Reach, allied with King Loren of the Rock to join forces and throw the invader back into the sea. The two armies met in the Reach, where the combined might of the Reach and the Rock broke Aegon's army. However, Aegon and his sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys Targaryen, took to the sky with their dragons. Near four thousand men died that day, including Mern. Loren survived the battle that would become known as the Field of Fire and submitted to the rule of House Targaryen the following day. Aegon named him Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West.[3][4]

Lord of Casterly Rock

Visenya and Rhaenys arranged marriages between noble houses from all over the Seven Kingdoms, one of which was the union between Loren's eldest son and heir with a Redwyne girl from the Arbor.[2]

Loren's line still rules over Casterly Rock to this day. His remote descendant, Tyrion Lannister, is grateful he chose to bend the knee and live.[4]
