Luceon, better known as Luceon of Tarth, was a singer from the island of Tarth.[1]

History

Long after the Dance of the Dragons, Luceon composed a sad ballad called “Farewell, My Brother”, still sung today. The song purports to relate the last meeting between Ser Arryk and Ser Erryk Cargyll, twin brothers and knights of the Kingsguard. During the Dance of the Dragons, Ser Arryk had sworn his sword to King Aegon II Targaryen, but Ser Erryk sided with his rival, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. Arryk was in the retinue of Grand Maester Orwyle when he traveled from King's Landing to Dragonstone in an unsuccessful attempt to reconcile the rival Targaryens.

In the song, before Arryk boards the ship to return to King's Landing, the brothers try to persuade each other to change sides. When this attempt fails, they exchange declarations of love and part, knowing that when they meet next, it will be as enemies. It is possible that such a farewell did indeed take place that day on Dragonstone, but no historical records mention it.[1]
