Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Ser Marq is one of the lords that Lord Hoster Tully sends to King's Landing with the survivors of Sherrer to ask the permission of the crown to destroy the raiders who are savaging the Riverlands.[1]

After their fathers are defeated at the Battle of the Golden Tooth, Ser Marq and Ser Karyl Vance begin launching raids across the Red Fork of the Trident to disrupt the Lannister supply lines, hampering Jaime Lannister's siege of Riverrun.[2]

They continue raids until Robb Stark arrives break the siege at the Battle of the Whispering Wood and the Battle of the Camps. The loss of the House Lannister outriders was thought to be due to Ser Marq, and so it was not realized that the host lead by Robb Stark was approaching Riverrun.[3]

Afterward, Ser Marq sits at Robb Stark's war council, where he calls for a march against Casterly Rock and also for allying with King Renly.[4]

A Clash of Kings

Given leave by his liege lord, Ser Edmure Tully, Ser Marq leaves Riverrun with his men to defend his lands.[5]

A Storm of Swords

Ser Marq is one of the seven nobles who launch Lord Hoster Tully's funeral boat.[6]

He is among the nobles from the Riverlands who accompany Edmure to his wedding at The Twins.[7] During the Red Wedding, he plays a drinking game with Danwell Frey.[8]

A Feast for Crows

Ser Marq is held at the Twins after the Red Wedding, to the consternation of his father, Lord Clement Piper, who believed that his bending his knee would lead to his son being returned. That did not happen, which enrages Lord Clement, who threatens Edwyn Frey about it at the war council during the Siege of Riverrun.[9]
