On Dragonstone Davos Seaworth, now Hand of the King to Stannis Baratheon, is concerned that he has risen to high due to his humble origins. He tells Maester Pylos that a king's Hand should be a highborn lord who is wise and learned, a battle commander or a great knight. Pylos reminds Davos of Myles Smallwood, who had been renowned for his courage but failed as Hand.[1]
