Myles Smallwood was a member of House Smallwood renowned for his courage. He was a Hand of the King.
History
Myles was made Hand of the King on account of his famous courage, but turned out to be a disaster as Hand.[1]

On Dragonstone Davos Seaworth, now Hand of the King to Stannis Baratheon, is concerned that he has risen to high due to his humble origins. He tells Maester Pylos that a king's Hand should be a highborn lord who is wise and learned, a battle commander or a great knight. Pylos reminds Davos of Myles Smallwood, who had been renowned for his courage but failed as Hand.[1]
