Princess Myrcella Baratheon is the second oldest of the royal Baratheon children. Like all of Cersei's children, her father is in truth Cersei's brother Jaime.

Appearance and Personality

Myrcella is described by her uncle Tyrion Lannister as having all of her mother's beauty, but none of her mother's nature. She is delicate, beautiful, and courteous. For her age, she displays courage, a strong will, and high intelligence. She is eight at the beginning of the series.

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Princess Myrcella accompanies her father north to visit Winterfell and the Starks. She is smitten with Robb Stark during the feast.[1]

A Clash of Kings

In an effort to win Dorne over to the side of House Lannister in the War of the Five Kings, her uncle Tyrion offers to marry her to Trystane Martell, Prince Doran's youngest son.[2] The offer is accepted and Princess Myrcella, accompanied by Ser Arys Oakheart of the Kingsguard, set sail for Braavos, where they will be met by an escort from Dorne.[3]. It is while returning from the docks that the royal party is caught up in the Riot of King's Landing.

A Feast for Crows

To get revenge against the Lannisters for the deaths of Elia and Oberyn Martell, Arianne Martell schemed to make Myrcella Queen of the Seven Kingdoms after Joffrey I's death. According to Dornish law, an elder sister inherits before her younger brother, which would make Myrcella the rightful queen.[4] Arianne hoped that the Dornishmen would rise to defend her claim for a chance to war against the Lannisters, who would be expected to support Myrcella's brother Tommen I.

Arianne and a small group of friends traveled with Myrcella through the desert, leaving the princess' cousin and handmaiden Rosamund Lannister as a decoy in Sunspear. When they came to their destination, Doran Martell's guardsmen were waiting for them. Their conspiracy had been betrayed. Myrcella's bodyguard, Arys Oakheart, attacked the guardsmen but was killed by their captain. During the chaos, Ser Gerold Dayne attempted to kill Myrcella to force Doran Martell into a war against the Lannisters.[5] He failed to kill her, but Myrcella lost an ear and received a hideous facial scar.[6]

A Dance with Dragons

Myrcella injuries are revealed to Ser Balon Swann of the Kingsguard. As coached by the Martells, she states her injuries are due to the actions of the renegade knight Ser Gerold Dayne and under Arianne's direction lies to Ser Balon Swann and claims he also cut down Ser Arys Oakheart. She then begs Ser Balon to bring Ser Gerold to justice (once again under Arianne's direction). Ser Balon agreed.
