Appearance and Character
The Old Tattersalt earned his nickname for the stained and faded black clothes he wears. He has a large belly and seldom talks.[2]

A Feast for Crows
Tattersalt captains the Blackbird on its voyage to Braavos.
A Dance with Dragons
Again captaining the Blackbird, Tattersalt is second-in-command during Cotter Pyke's expedition to Hardhome.[3] Maester Harmune reports to Lord Commander Jon Snow from Hardhome that the Blackbird and all hands have been lost.[1]
