A Clash of Kings
Ser Parmen was part of King Renly's army encamped beneath Bitterbridge and a member of the Rainbow Guard, Renly's version of the Kingsguard.[2] Ser Parmen stood guard with Ser Emmon Cuy outside the Renly's tent when Lady Catelyn Tully came to see Renly before the battle with his brother Stannis. When Renly was murdered within his tent a short while later, he was not present.[3]
When Ser Loras Tyrell recounts to Ser Jaime Lannister of his blood rage upon hearing of Renly's death, he remembers confronting Ser Parmen along side Ser Emmon Cuy and Ser Robar Royce. Upon seeing Renly's corpse, Loras killed Ser Emmon and Ser Robar for their failure to protect Renly as his sworn guards; only Ser Parmen survived the encounter.[4]
After Renly's death, Ser Parmen defected to Stannis Baratheon. Ser Parmen and Ser Erren Florent were sent to retrieve Renly's foot soldiers encamped at Bitterbridge.[5]
A Storm of Swords
Ser Parmen is imprisoned at Highgarden after being captured by Ser Loras Tyrell.[6]
