A Dance with Dragons
He is of Lhazarene culture who are mocked by the Dothraki as the Lamb Men. His time in captivity has made him a ferocious fighter thus his new name the Red Lamb. Barristan thinks the boy is all ferocity with no technique but believes with some more training the boy's skill will improve.
He spends most of the novel in training in the Great Pyramid to become a knight, as a squire to Ser Barristan Selmy. Ser Barristan Selmy considers the Red Lamb to be one of his best squires after Larraq and Tumco Lho.
When Ser Barristan goes down to the dungeons to tell Gerris Drinkwater and Archibald Yronwood of Quentyn Martell's demise he takes two newly made knights with him - one of which is the Red Lamb.[1]
