The Regent Wars was the name given to the numerous political conflicts that occurred between the years of 131 AC and 136 ACd uring the regency of King Aegon the Third.
After the end of the horrific civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, the young Aegon was chosen to be the new king in 131 AC. Since he came to the throne aged eleven, several Regents and Hands ruled in Aegon's name for the first five years of his reign. During the regency numerous political schemes, plots and even a few assassinations happened as the Regents and their supporters vied for political power.
The young Aegon after witnessing the horrific death of his mother, Aegon had become a quite, sullen, melancholic boy who spent days alone brooding. He was used as a pawn as the Lords and Regents of the small council all sought to gain a political stronghold.
Council of Regents
The regency council of Aegon III, as originally constituted, consisted of:[1]
- Lady Jeyne Arryn, Lady of the Eyrie (131-134 AC).
- Lord Royce Caron, Lord of Nightsong (131-132 AC).
- Ser Torrhen Manderly (131-133 AC).
- Lord Manfryd Mooton, Lord of Maidenpool (131-134 AC).
- Grand Maester Munkun (131-136 AC).
- Lord Corlys Velaryon, Master of Driftmark and Lord of the Tides (131-132 AC).
- Lord Roland Westerling, Lord of the Crag (131-133 AC).
Subsequent replacements:
- Lord Unwin Peake, replaced Lord Corlys (132-134 AC).
- Lord Thaddeus Rowan, replaced Lord Roland (133-136 AC).
- Ser Corwyn Corbray, replaced Lord Manfryd (134 AC).
