Appearance
Ser Richard is Lean, dark-haired, hard-eyed, his face marred by pockmarks and old scars.[1]
History
As a squire he dreamed of a white cloak, but Cersei Lannister spoke against him and Robert Baratheon passed him over. He is said to lust for battle.[2]
Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
During the battle of the Wall, Ser Richard slew Dormund, one of Tormund Giantsbane's sons.[3]
A Feast for Crows
Ser Richard is sworn to King Stannis I. He is among the knights who go north to the Wall with him.[4]
A Dance with Dragons
He sits on Stannis' war council and later accompanies his King as he retakes Deepwood Motte and later marches on Winterfell as his second-in-command. He is among the men stationed at the village between two lakes, and acts somewhat like Stannis' bodyguard.[5]
The Winds of Winter
He is present along with Ser Godry Farring and Clayton Suggs when Stannis interrogates Maester Tybald about his loyalties. He is then put in charge of disarming Arnolf Karstark's men while Stannis breaks his fast with Arnolf, his son and grandsons.[6]
