Robett Glover is a member of House Glover. He is the brother and heir of Galbart Glover and the father of two children.[1]

Appearance

He is tall and has brown hair, which has gone partially grey, and he has become haggard looking as a result of his extended captivity.[2]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

When Robb Stark calls his banners, both Robett and his brother Galbart ride out from Deepwood Motte, leaving it in the hands of Robett's wife Sybelle.[3]

Robb Stark's lord bannermen haggle over influence on military decisions, with both Robett and Lord Roose Bolton demanding a command. Notably, Robett does so with a "jest and a smile" while Lord Bolton is brusque.[4]

At Moat Cailin, Robb and his lord bannermen consult on military tactics. Greatjon Umber argues for riding against the main Lannister host led by Lord Tywin Lannister while Robett and his brother Galbart, among others, suggest to attack the Lannister forces that besiege Riverrun and are under the command of Ser Jaime Lannister. When Lady Catelyn Stark arrives at Moat Cailin from White Harbor, he is among those kneeling before Lady Catelyn to greet her. When she is speaking with her son alone, Lady Catelyn names Robett as a possible candidate her son could have chosen to lead the northern army, if he hadn't decided to ride to war himself.[5]

Robb is having consultations with different lord bannermen every day. Robett accompanies him when news arrives from the outriders led by Ser Brynden Tully that Lord Walder Frey has gathered 4,000 men at the Twins without any apparent indication of moving them south to relieve his besieged liege lord Hoster Tully at Riverrun. Robett asks Lady Catelyn whether she believes that Lord Walder will betray them to the Lannisters, receiving the answer that not even Lord Walder himself might know what he is going to do.[6]

When Robb's army splits at the Twins, Robett becomes part of Lord Bolton's force that goes on to fight in the Battle of the Green Fork against Lord Tywin's main host.[7]

A Clash of Kings

Robett is in Lord Roose Bolton's camp when, after Lord Tywin Lannister has left Harrenhal, the Brave Companions under their leader Vargo Hoat arrive to negotiate a defection from the Lannister forces. As result of the agreement reached between Vargo Hoat and Lord Bolton, Robett and Aenys Frey lead a group of northern knights that Vargo Hoat brings into Harrenhal under the pretense that they are captives taken by the Brave Companions when they repelled an attempt by Lord Bolton's forces to cross the Trident. As part of the feint, the northerners are chained, in ragged clothes and many fake injuries. Ser Amory Lorch, left by Lord Tywin as castellan of Harrenhal, falls for the trick and orders that the captives are brought to a dungeon, ignoring a protest by Robett that they have been promised honorable treatment by Vargo Hoat.[8]

Before the Brave Companions can keep their side of the bargain of releasing the prisoners so that they can overpower the small force left to defend Harrenhal, Arya Stark, not realizing what is going on, organizes a successful liberation of the captives with the assistance of Jaqen H'ghar, Biter and Rorge. While his men storm out to get the castle under control, Robett congratulates Jaqen H'ghar on the trick of making the guards defenseless by burning them with hot soup, inquiring whether this was Vargo Hoat's idea. However, the behavior of Biter and Rorge makes him suspicious and he asks the three who they are, pointing out that they were not among those who came to Lord Bolton's camp. He inquires whether they truly are of the Brave Companions, receiving the answer from Rorge that they are now. Jaqen H'ghar gives their names but before he can introduce Arya with her real name, she calls herself Weasel (not wanting that Biter and Rorge or other people she can't trust find out her true identity) and Robett is not much interested in the girl that helped liberating his men anyway. Calling for putting an end to the bloody business, he storms out to join the fighting outside.[8]

After the northerners have Harrenhal under control, Robett is among those welcoming Lord Bolton the following evening, as he takes Harrenhal as his new seat.[8] Robett leaves the castle soon, leaving Arya not enough time to come to a decision whether she she can trust him with his secret.[9]

As it's getting ever more difficult to find supplies for the troops around Harrenhal, Lord Bolton orders Robett to join up with Ser Helman Tallhart and march on Duskendale, rich lands hardly touched by war so far. Robett's castle has been taken by the Ironborn and Ser Tallhart has lost a son, so Lord Bolton expects that the two will take their vengeance on Duskendale.[9] They take a third of the northmen's strength for the campaign, leading to the Battle of Duskendale.[10]

A Storm of Swords

Lord Tywin Lannister soon finds out about the northmen's march on Duskendale, led by Robett and Ser Helman Tallhart. Lord Tywin orders Lord Randyll Tarly, who came into the Lannister fold as result of the alliance struck with House Tyrell, to march against them. He also commands Ser Gregor Clegane to move up the Kingsroad and cut off their retreat. When Tyrion Lannister learns about this, he is surprised, as there seems nothing worth in Duskendale to take such a risk. Tyrion wonders whether Robb Stark has finally made a blunder, but his father tells him that it's not a matter he should concern himself with.[10]

The Battle of Duskendale turns into a disaster for the northmen. The forces of Lord Tarly catch up with Robett's men outside Duskendale, trapping them against the Blackwater Bay. Fighting with heave losses on both sides breaks out, but the forces loyal to the Iron Throne prevail and Ser Helman is among the one thousand northmen killed. Robett leads a chaotic retreat towards Harrenhal, not expecting to be faced with Ser Gregor's men along the way.[11]

Robett is captured during the retreat near the Kingsroad. When Robb Stark learns about the defeat, he is bewildered, wondering why his forces marched on Duskendale in the first place and how that campaign justified losing a third of his infantry. Robb intends to exchange Robett for Martyn Lannister, expecting that Lord Tywin will agree to this on behalf of his brother Kevan's son after his twin has already been murdered by Lord Rickard Karstark while in captivity. It also provides an opportunity for Robb to rid himself of the concern that Martyn will be slaughtered by northmen as well.[12]

Lord Tywin agrees to Robb's offer and Robett is put on a ship at Duskendale while Martyn Lannister is handed over to the Lannisters at the Golden Tooth.[13]

When Robb's host gathers at the Twins for Lord Edmure Tully's wedding, Robb meets with Lord Roose Bolton. Robb thanks Lord Bolton for his achievements during the war, but Lord Bolton points out that his men suffered heavy losses in the Battle of the Green Fork and at Duskendale. The mention of Duskendale makes Robb curse and he tells Lord Bolton that Robett will have to answer for that folly when they meet again. Lord Bolton plays into Robb's mistaken belief that the campaign came on Robett's initiative, suggesting that Robett acted heedlessly out of grief and fear for his wife and children when he heard that Deepwood Motte had been taken by the Ironborn.[14]

A Dance with Dragons

Robett arrives in White Harbour after the prisoner exchange and is now trying to raise men to take Deepwood Motte from the Ironborn. However, he has little success and his appeal to Lord Wyman Manderly for helping House Glover apparently fall on deaf ears, as White Harbour is reportedly weary of war.[15]

He escorts Davos Seaworth to a secret meeting where Lord Wyman, where the three discuss the possibility of White Harbour aligning itself to Stannis Baratheon. Robett expresses his gratitude to Stannis Baratheon when he learns Stannis retook Deepwood Motte from "the iron bitch" and returned it to House Glover. He has been teaching Wex Pyke, a survivor of the Sack of Winterfell, to read and write, which provides him the information that Bran and Rickon Stark survived the sack as well, and that Rickon has gone to Skagos.[2]

Though he claims he will join Stannis when Davos returns Rickon[2], unbeknowest to him, his wife Sybelle Locke has already declared House Glover for Stannis, with some of their force marching on Winterfell.
