Runciter was a Grand Maester during the late reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and the early reign of King Viserys I Targaryen.[1][2]

History

Runciter was appointed in 101 AC after the death of Grand Maester Allar. He had only been in King's Landing a short time before Prince Baelon Targaryen fell ill, complaining of severe pain in his stomach. Runciter treated Baelon and was able to bring his fever down and eased his pain with milk of the poppy, but the prince's condition continued to worsen until he died on the fifth day of his illness. Runciter opened the corpse and attributed the prince's death to a burst belly.[1][2]

Runciter later served King Viserys I Targaryen after Jaehaerys passed away in 103 AC.[1] In his records, he only cites a quarrel with King Viserys as the reason for Prince Daemon Targaryen's second exile.[2] He died in 112 AC and was replaced by Grand Maester Mellos.[1][2]
