Ser Ryam Redwyne was a knight from House Redwyne. He was Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and Hand of the King[1] under King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[2]
History
Ser Ryam was considered the greatest knight of his day. He was also considered one of the worst Hands of the King the realm has ever seen.[3]
In the great tourney of King's Landing in 98 AC to celebrate the fiftieth year of King Jaehaerys reign, Ser Clement Crabb and Ser Ryam Redwyne broke thirty lances against each other, and King Jaehaerys proclaimed them cochampions.[4]
In 99 AC, Ser Ryam became Hand of the King for King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, after the death of Hand of the King Septon Barth. Ryam was terrible in this office, and was replaced by Prince Baelon Targaryen less than a year after having been raised to the office.[4]
He was succeeded as Lord Commander by Ser Harrold Westerling when he died in 105 AC. His slot in the Kingsguard was taken by Ser Criston Cole.[2]

1It is unknown whether "...sweet Matarys and Valarr, the Hand." indicates that Valarr was Hand, or that Matarys, Valarr, and an unnamed Hand of the King died during the Spring Sickness.
