The Free Cities and the location of Sarhoy
Sarhoy is a ruined city in Essos at one of the four mouths of the Rhoyne.[1] It was destroyed by the Volantenes and the Valyrian Freehold.
History
Sarhoy was a great port city with canals and saltwater gardens and pink stone. During the Second Spice War, three dragonlords and men from Volantis sacked the city. The city's warriors were slaughtered and the children sold into slavery. The city was burned and the Volantenes salted the earth. After further defeats during the Second Spice War, Princess Nymeria then led her ten thousand ships down the Rhoyne past Sarhoy and into the Summer Sea[1]
According to maester Yandel, Sarhoy "remains in ruins to this day, a desolate and haunted place."[2]
