The Seven Who Rode were seven knights sent by Rhaenyra Targaryen to find her son and heir, Prince Joffrey Velaryon, when he left the Red Keep attempting to save the dragons during the storming of the Dragonpit. Singers have made many songs about the Ride of the Seven.[1]

The Ride of the Seven

Grand Maester Munkun wrote about them as men of honor, bound by duty to obey their queen. Septon Eustace proposes they had been moved by Rhaenyra's love for her son. According to Mushroom, however, they were dolts and dastards eager for reward and too dull to believe they might die. Gyldayn, for his part, agrees in part with the three chroniclers.[1]

The Seven Who Rode were accompanied by six squires, eight gold cloaks, and twenty men-at-arms, but their names are lost to history.[1]

Prince Joffrey was killed when he tried to ride the dragon Syrax to the Dragonpit and was thrown off its back, with the fall killing him. The Seven recovered Prince Joffrey's body, but three of them were killed, including Ser Glendon Goode, who had been Lord Commander of the Queensguard for less than a day.[1]
