Slaver Cities is a generic term used for the cities of Astapor, Yunkai and Meereen, located around Slaver's Bay on the continent of Essos. Drawing on the culture of the Ghiscari Empire, the Slaver Cities have been ruled by aristocrats that call themselves Masters. Their wealth derives from engaging in slavery.[1] They are distinct from the Free Cities located to the west, where slavery is officially forbidden although still practiced to some degree.
