A sorcerer lord claims to be the sixty-ninth yellow God-Emperor of Yi Ti, despite the fact that the dynasty of the yellow emperors fell a thousand years ago. The sorcerer lord lives in exile, far to the east of of the Golden Empire, in the city of Carcosa in the Further East of Essos. It is unknown whether he will prevail over Bu Gai, the seventeenth azure emperor, enthroned in Yin, or another pretender, General Pol Qo, who claims to be the first of the orange emperors.[1]

Behind the Scenes

The yellow emperor in Carcosa is a reference by George R. R. Martin to the book The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers, and the fictional city of Carcosa, both part of the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.[2]

As exemplified by the names of the scarlet emperors and the sea-green emperors, and the fact that the fourth yellow emperor was Chai Duq,[1] the family name of the sorcerer lord is "Chai".
