Stone is the first waycastle defending the Eyrie, seat of House Arryn, and the second line of the castle's defense following the Gates of the Moon.

Layout

The path to Stone is surrounded by forest. It has a massive ironbound gate and a yard. The stone walls are crowned with iron spikes and its two fat round towers rise above a keep. Stone's stables have fresh mules for travelers. The trail then becomes steeper as it continues on to Snow and Sky.[1]

History

Queen Sharra Arryn tripled the size of the garrisons in Stone, Snow, and Sky in preparation for the imminent march of the Targaryen forces against the Vale of Arryn during Aegon's Conquest.[2]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Catelyn Stark and Tyrion Lannister stop at Stone while traveling to the Eyrie. It is commanded by a portly knight.[1]

A Feast for Crows

Sansa Stark and Lord Robert Arryn stop at Stone while descending the Giant's Lance. Myranda Royce suggests staying overnight at the waycastle, but Mya Stone advises them to continue on to the Gates of the Moon.[3]
