The tears of Lys is a rare and expensive poison dissolved into liquids. It is clear, sweet as water and leaves no trace.[1] The effects of the poison cause a sickness in the bowels and belly, eating away at them.[2] It is made by the alchemists of Lys.[1][3] It is unknown if it has a connection with the Weeping Lady of Lys.

Varys tells Eddard Stark that Lord Jon Arryn was poisoned with the tears of Lys.[1] When the small council considers assassinating Daenerys Targaryen, Varys suggests the tears of Lys.[4]

Tyrion Lannister sees the tears of Lys in Grand Maester Pycelle's collection of medicines and poisons.[5]

Sansa Stark learns that Lysa Tully put the tears of Lys in the wine of her husband, Lord Arryn, at the behest of Petyr Baelish.[6]
