I have added an overflow option, which should be noticeable mostly for those with lower resolution or pages with allot of images. what it should do is add horizontal scroll bar if there is not enough space for the tree. Also I am adding an option to hide the tree(for big trees). Please tell me if there are any issues or any ideas for implementation/Improvement--[[User:Mordin999|Mor]] 21:26, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Question

I'm trying to introduce family trees on every wiki for noble houses, but I don't see how this template is suposed to work.

On the standard wikipedia there's a method for doing familiy trees that's quite cool. Couldn't we import it here?--The hairy bear (Send me a raven) 11:37, 23 April 2007 (CDT)

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing the doc for the family tree template explained. Also, in the future, please add the Template category to templates, so we can group them all together. --Ran 11:57, 23 April 2007 (CDT)
Eh, I can't figure out how it works precisely, I've got to say. ;) I tried pulling in the docs and it's turned into a big mess, IMO. I'll let others more familiar with it handle it, as I've got some learning to do. ;) --Ran 12:08, 23 April 2007 (CDT)
I tried to simply copy them but that didn't work. Now they are a bunch of useless pages. Sorry. Scafloc 13:59, 23 April 2007 (CDT)
No problem. It's a good idea. If someone else doesn't do it, I'll study it further and see if I can't figure it out. I suspect what's happening is that it's actually built up of a number of templates, and they all need to be in place for it to look right. --Ran 14:01, 23 April 2007 (CDT)
I _think_ I've got it sorted. Needed to turn on the HTML Tidy functionality, or something. If anyone makes use of it, let me know. --Westeros 17:19, 23 April 2007 (CDT)
Super Ran/Westeros! It works! I am copying the threes from wikipedia. Scafloc 18:26, 23 April 2007 (CDT)

I dont have much experience with our Familytree template, can any tell me if any of the Familytree templates use the 81-99 fields or successfully used the 41-80 ones? Because from what I see this template is only making use of Template:familytree/step2, which does not support the 81-90 range(Do we need it at all?) and didnt support the 41-80 up until now. --Mor 17:23, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

It seems that this template dont handle all the parameters that are shown on the documentation page, should I add them or remove them from the documentation page to avoid confusion? --Mor 17:33, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I have added the additional parameters, since I could think of reason why not to offer the additional functionality to our editors. The additional functionality should not effect the current templates and they should look exactly the same. --Mor 19:26, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Change

Can someone change the row 99 to 80 or 85?Template:Targaryen tree have gotten a little bug.——Elevatar 02:03, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Improvements?

I am interested to hear if anyone has any suggestions toward how to improve the family trees? --Mor 16:50, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

So far I think that our templates weak points are:

  1. They do not include legends explaining what everything means.
  2. There is no easy way to edit them, since the 'edit section' doesnt show links to the templates within.
  3. They are made to fit into a page, either that or someone intentionally was trying to take out my eyes.

I have added an overflow option, which should be noticeable mostly for those with lower resolution or pages with allot of images. what it should do is add horizontal scroll bar if there is not enough space for the tree.
