The song of ice and fire
The Song of Ice and Fire is a subject of a prophecy and it is eponymous for the A Song of Ice and Fire series. The song of ice and fire is said to be Aegon's but the content remains unknown.
At the House of the Undying Daenerys had a vision in which she hears 'the song of ice and fire' being mentioned. It shows a woman in a bed with a babe at her breast. She is talking to her man about the babe they named Aegon. She asks the man to make a song for the baby. The man replies: "He has a song. He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire".[1] Daenerys's assumes it is her dead older brother Rhaegar Targaryen) and Elia Martell about their infant son named Aegon. [2]
It is implied that there is a connection between the song, the promise, and Daenerys herself. This is established more clearly when Maester Aemon identifies Daenerys as the "prince" that was promised. [3]
The phrase "ice and fire" is also mentioned in the Reeds' oath of loyalty to Bran.[4] However, the song and the promise are never mentioned again, and the song itself remains a mystery.
