The third sack of Maidenpool occurs during the War of the Five Kings.[1]
Battle
The town of Maidenpool is sacked first by "lions" and again by "wolves". William Mooton, Lord of Maidenpool, remains in his castle and does not defend the town when it suffers a third sack, this time by outlaws.[1] Half of Maidenpool's buildings have been burned or plundered and its famous pool is filled with corpses.[2]
Aftermath
The sack of Maidenpool by outlaws may have been perpetrated by the Brave Companions.[1] Brienne of Tarth and Ser Jaime Lannister are taken captive by Brave Companions shortly after leaving a deserted Maidenpool,[2] although the sellswords are based out of Harrenhal with Lord Roose Bolton at that time. Brienne later recalls that the Brave Companions used a septon for archery practice near Maidenpool.[3] Ser Cleos Frey was killed near Maidenpool by outlaw bowmen not connected with the Brave Companions.[2]
Following the Red Wedding, Lord Randyll Tarly takes Maidenpool[4] and begins to rebuild the town.[1]
