The acting Hand of the King, Tyrion Lannister concocts a plan to prevent the Dornish from supporting Lannister enemies by pledging his niece, Myrcella Baratheon as a future wife of Trystane. Doran Martell accepts the betrothal offer, and Myrcella departs King's Landing to Sunspear together with Ser Arys Oakheart, a member of the Kingsguard.[2]

Trystane was born in 287 AL.[4][5] Trystane's father and mother married for love but split because of cultural differences after his birth.[6] He has two elder siblings, Arianne Martell, the heir of Sunspear, and Quentyn Martell.
