Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
Tyrek is a squire for King Robert Baratheon alongside Lancel Lannister, his cousin.[3]
A Clash of Kings
With people who fled the fighting in the Riverlands flooding into King's Landing and with provisions for commoners getting shorter, unrest is growing in the city. One minor uproar is created at the gate of the Red Keep when news about preparations for Tyrek's upcoming wedding feast gets out. It is quelled by a party led by King Joffrey.[4] The Lannisters marry Tyrek to Ermesande Hayford, the heir of House Hayford.[5] Because Ermesande is still a baby, the other squires call Tyrek "Wet Nurse."[6]
After King Stannis I and King Renly I cut off King's Landing from supplies completely, suffering among the population gets worse. Driven by hunger, a mob attacks a royal party that had gone to the harbor to bid safe journey to Princess Myrcella as she departed for Dorne. In the riot, a number of men are killed. Tyrek goes missing and is presumed dead.[6] Although Tyrion and later Tywin put a lot of effort in finding the boy or his body, they have no luck and he is missing still.[1]
A Storm of Swords
Addam Marbrand, when made commander of the goldcloaks, still has no luck in locating Tyrek or his body.
A Feast for Crows
Jaime Lannister starts to suspect that maybe Varys had a hand in Tyrek's disappearance, his reasoning being that Tyrek as the late King Robert's former squire would have had a deal of knowledge about the king's activities including his death and knowledge like that was always valuable, a fact which Varys knows better then anyone else. In addition, Varys did not go down to the docks with the rest of the court the day Myrcella was sent to Dorne, and it would have been a easy thing for Varys to spark a riot and have agents of his snatch Tyrek in the confusion.
